Our Story
Dom’s was established in 1957 by the Mandala family in Rockford, Illinois. This tradition started with the creation of homemade Italian recipes passed down through generations and is a family favorite and staple, made right in the Midwest.
Every jar of Dom’s Pasta Sauce is made with care, using simple, high-quality ingredients and the same time-honored recipes that have been shared around the Mandala family table for years. From dinners to gatherings and special celebrations, this sauce has always brought people together and we’re proud to share it with your family too.
Our sauce is unique because it simmers slowly for hours, allowing the flavors to fully deepen before bottling.

Dom’s History
The Dom’s story began in a small grocery store next to West High School in July of 1957. Dom and Flo Mandala started selling pizza slices, pop, and candy to students after school and on weekends. In 1967, they opened a brand-new restaurant on Rockton Avenue in Rockford, IL. They were so eager to serve customers that the doors opened before the floors were even finished, with plywood underfoot.
The 1970s brought a pizza craze to Rockford, and Dom’s quickly became a local hotspot, with lines out the door as people flocked to place orders. So popular was Dom’s phone number that it became the most requested listing through directory assistance. From the very first day through the final day in 2006, Dom’s Pizzeria was a bustling, beloved fixture of the community.
Today, Dom’s legacy lives on through our pasta sauces, which continue to be sold in local stores, bringing joy to those who have supported us over the years and welcoming new friends to the brand.
